Welcome!
Aberystwyth Steampunk Spectacular is on tour for spring 2023! We will be visiting the iconic location of Portmeirion, star of the television series The Village and The Prisoner series.
This is the perfect setting for a social event for steampunkers from far and wide. Come and join us for a day of promenading and socialising, with the odd bit of spontaneous teapot racing and tea duelling!

Promenading
The event will see the magnificently dressed steampunks promenading in Portmeirion, in all their creative splendour.
Teapot Racing
The event will also host the Teapot Racing with members organsied by the legendary British Teapot Racers.
Steam Train Journey
Join us for a splendid journey on a steam train through the beautiful Welsh countryside.
Tea Duelling
Tea Duelling will commence at the central piazza, tea and biscuits at the ready! Dare you take part? Organised by Tink from the legendary Llangollen Faery Festival.
Teapot Sumo
Teapot sumo is the latest in Steampunk robotics. Build your own 2KG robotic sumo and challenge your steampunk competitors to push the opponent out of the Dohyō (sumo ring).
Parasol Duelling
Dare you take part in this ultimate game of rock, paper scissors?
Fashion Show
Join us to show off your magnificent creations at the first Portmeirion steampunk fashion show.

1) TOLL & WELCOME AREA
The Toll & Welcome Area is home to the Main Toll Gate entrance to the village, as well as the coach car park, Welcome Centre and public toilets.
2) CLIFFTOP & CHANTRY ROW
Clifftop & Chantry Row offers spectacular views of the Estuary. Guests can walk down to the Clifftop Rotunda, or Grotto, featuring sweeping views across the Estuary. Stop to hear Clough Williams-Ellis give an introduction to the village at the Soundscape under Bridge House.
3) BATTERY SQUARE & CAMPANILE
The Mermaid Spa is located in Battery Square. Walk over to the Mermaid Spa for beautiful coastal views. Battery Square is home to The Round House, which was the fictional home of Number 6 in the TV series The Prisoner. The Campanile Bell Tower is the focal feature of Battery Square.
4) CENTRAL PIAZZA
No Italian village is complete without a central piazza. The Central Piazza at Portmeirion features a fountain pool, Gloriette, Gothic Pavilion, the Bristol Colonnade and the giant chessboard.
5) SALUTATION SQUARE
In Salutation Square, guests will find the Triumphal Arch. Some of the best views of the village can be enjoyed from Salutation Square.
6) TOWN HALL
The historic Hercules Hall is located in this part of the village. Hercules Hall is an Arts-and-Crafts style village hall designed to house a Jacobean ceiling, panelling and mullioned windows salvaged from Emral Hall in Flintshire. You will also find the Hercules Hall and Tudor Room private function rooms in this area of the village.
7) THE HOTEL & QUAYSIDE
Explore the Coastal Path, Estuary, Amis Reunis, the Observatory Tower and the Casino at The Hotel & Quayside.
8) Y GWYLLT WOODLANDS
From the Triumphal Arch in Salutation Square, there are two main paths into Y Gwyllt Woodlands. Featuring 70 acres of woodland and 20 miles of walking paths, the Woodland is home to hidden treasures including the Dog Cemetery, Ghost Garden, Tangle Wood and the Chinese Lake. Guests can enjoy a breath-taking view of the village and estuary from the Gazebo, designed by Susan Williams-Ellis to mark the centenary of Clough's birth.
9) CASTELL DEUDRAETH
Removed from the main village, Castell Deudraeth stands proudly on the main drive in and out of the village.

Portmeirion Village
There is so much to see and do at Portmeirion. Visit The Village, with its variety of shops, cafes, colourful buildings, picturesque piazza and exhibitions. Next, explore the 70 acres of exotic woodlands with 19 miles of pathways which cut through forests, secret spaces and coastal coves.

Can I bring my dog with me?

How much are the tickets?
Steampunk discount for attendees in their steampunk finery - £11 per adult, free for children under 15.
Standard Summer-season day tickets - £17 per adult, free for children under 15.
Tickets only include the entrance to the site. You can purchase tickets at the entrance to the village
Steampunk activities organised by 'Aber Steampunk' will be free during the day.

Is there parking close-by?
Several free car parks are available next to the village.

Tickets are unlimited and cover the entrance fee to Portmeirion.
Steampunk Entrance (Adult)

For all guests in their steampunk finery, the entrance fee has been reduced to £11 per adult for a day ticket.
Steampunk Entrance tickets may only be purchased from the site entrance during the event.

For all children in their steampunk finery, the entrance fee has been reduced to £9 per child for a day ticket.
